Traditional yet with a modern flair...
It is always fun to start up an old family tradition again, especially when it involves frosting, candy canes and all you can eat Froot Loops. I had the idea early on that I wanted my gingerbread house to have an "eichler" feel to it. What do you think?
It is all about the added touches when it comes to a gingerbread house. So, I added an outdoor fire pit:
And a tire swing:
I was pleased with my final product although I would have liked to figure out a way to create more angles and some of those skinny windows where the walls meet the roof. I wish I could use the excuse that "there is only so much you can do with graham crackers" but wait until you see what my husband came up with.

I have an idea for the windows you want; get some of those blue jolly ranchers and bake them on a silpat. You can make a mold so they are the size you need... that would be awesome!
I remember doing something like that when I was a kid but with life savers candies...I feel like I am limited when graham crackers are my medium...we shall see what I come up with next year!
